Video File Storage

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Click the Config bitmap button and select Storage to enter the storage configuration tab.

Place a check in the box next to the drive you'd like to record footage to. Multiple drives can be checked. The DVR system will record to each hard drive in order, starting with the "earliest" letter of the alphabet. For example, if drives D, E, and F are checked, footage will be recorded to drive D first. When drive D is full, footage will be recorded to drive E. When drive E is full, footage will be recorded to drive F. When drive F is full, footage will be recorded to drive D again, but this time, the DVR system will overwrite footage on the drive, beginning with the oldest recordings.

Please note that overwriting data, on a drive that is already full, for an extended period of time, is not recommended. Once a hard drive is full, for best results, either delete unimportant files, or back up important files to CD-R, then delete them, in order to free up hard drive space.

DRIVE C SHOULD NEVER BE CHECKED! Windows could behave erratically if the C drive runs out of hard drive space. Only drives with NO Windows operating system installed should be used for storage. Note: If a new hard drive is installed on your system, the DVR software will need to be uninstalled and re-installed before it will recognize the new drive as a writeable volume.
